Loss against Dyip an early wake-up call for Bolts

ANTIPOLO CITY - The heartbreaking loss to Terrafirma was a huge lesson learned for Meralco.

With that in mind, the Bolts were all business against Blackwater and hacked out a wire-to-wire 125-99 win to bounce back in the PBA Governors Cup.

Led by the 30 points of Allein Maliksi, five players finished in double figures for the Bolts, who improved to a 3-1 record for a tie with TNT for fourth to fifth spots.

The blowout victory somehow made up for the team's stunning 96-88 loss to the Dyip a week ago.

"We basically focus on this game (Blackwater). We cannot worry about what happened during the last game except worry about what would happen tonight," said coach Norman Black following the Blackwater demolition Saturday night.

Although Black admitted not thinking about the Dyip loss, he gave credit to Terrafirma for a job well done against the Bolts.

"Terrafirma played very well. So it basically means any team can beat any team on any given night if you don't come ready to play," he said.

And the Bolts made sure they're ready to play against the Blackwater Bossing.

"The guys came focus, they were loose, they were focus on what we need to do, and we got the job done, both the first and second teams," noted Black. (RG)
