MVP Group teams up to convert PH Arena into 'mega' quarantine center

THE Manny V. Pangilinan Group of Companies teamed up with the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Iglesia ni Cristo and came through with a perfect dish-off amid the current health pandemic.

The three entities bonded together to build a 300-bed quarantine center at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan for use by returning Filipino Overseas Workers (OFWs)

The center will be turned over to the Inter Agency Task Force (IATF) on COVID-19 when it's completed.

According to National Task Force (NTF) on COVID-19 chief implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez, Jr. the facility will start operation next week.

The MVP Group, which owns the PBA franchises TnT Katropa, Meralco, and NLEX, has been doing its own share to help the government and other sectors of the society get through this hard times when the country faces the danger of the coronavirus.

The Philippine Arena incidentally, has also been partial home to the PBA, having hosted numerous games in the venue, including the largest crowd ever to watch the league at 54,086 during Game 7 of the Barangay Ginebra-Meralco Governors Cup finals in 2017.

'Special and exclusive access' along the North Luzon Expressway to the Philippine Arena for IATF quarantine teams and medical support groups will be provided by the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp (MPTC) and NLEX Corp.

NLEX will be toll-free for medical front liners, ambulances, medical service vans, and buses of the Health department, according to the firm.

The government along with those from the Department of Health, Armed Forces, and the Philippine National Police will manage the quarantine center, according the NLEX Corp.(RG)
