CENTRO Escolar U and PSP Gymers face-off in a crucial match that may well decide their spots in the playoffs of the 2023 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at the Ynares Sports.
PSP is out of the running for a semis berth but a victory against CEU could complicate things. The Gymers hope to finish fourth at best to earn an advantage in the quarterfinals.
Game time is at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Scorpions eyeing to rebound from a 93-72 loss against the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Tuesday and to stay in contention for Top Four at the end of the eliminations.
With a 2-2 card and tied for fourth with Wangs Basketball @27 Strikers-Letran, CEU could wound up in the Top Two and earn an outright spot in the semis if its beats PSP (2-3) and leader Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda (4-1) Tuesday next week.
"It's a challenging stretch for us but it's all about our desire. Kung gusto naming maabot yung summit, it may not be a championship but just getting better. We have to climb it," said CEU coach Jeff Perlas.
"There will be struggles but it's how we bounce back from a loss."
The third and fourth-ranked squads of the quarters enjoy a twice-to-beat incentives against the fifth and sixth-place squads after the elimination round. The winners join the two teams in waiting in the semis. (JBU)
